If you do just one thing for your loved one this Valentine’s Day, you should bake them a chocolate tart…

Roses are red,
Berries are tart,
I need to bake one
But where do I start?

Never fear: the Queen of Tarts, Tina Bester, is here to save the day.

Start by making this chocolate pastry (Tarts, p.112) (because no one can resist chocolate pastry):

Then use it to make this mouthwatering chocolate brownie and cheesecake tart (Tarts, p.104-105)

… or this delectable hazelnut frangipane tarts (Tarts, p.78-79) recipe:

If your lover has more of a savoury tooth, there are plenty more tarts (some of which are actually heart-shaped) to choose from. Simply get your copy of Tarts by Tina Bester here.

P.S. It’s a well-known Valentine’s Day fact that that all tarts taste best on a picnic blanket, with some Champagne, a rose or 12 – and a beautiful sunset, of course. Good luck!
