Mud Chic
Mud Chic
While photographing the book, Shack Chic, which focussed on the lifestyle and inspiration found in the shack-lands of Cape Town, the most frequent reply to my question, ‘Where is your home?’ was ‘Transkei’, I felt the need to explore ‘home’, to understand this attachment that the urban shack dwellers feel for their rural roots. – Craig Fraser
Here life is lived in tune with nature and in cognisance of community. It is here in every inch of a traditional rural dwelling that we find the ideological and decorative footprint of Xhosa culture. SIZE 280 X 280 MM • PAGES 192 • HARD COVER • ISBN 978-0-620-35392-9

Obie
Obie
Obie, A photographic story book Obie encompasses a decades-long sweep of his life’s work and covers the globe. It is part coffee-table book, part travelogue, part autobiography and part storybook, with a bit of philosophy thrown in for good measure. It’s a great photographer, documenter and character looking back through his ever-increasing archive (built up over 60 years) and choosing the images that resonate the most, and which have a story to tell. Obie captures the rare, the human, the wonderful, the cosmic even. And he doesn’t just take pictures; he also meticulously records it all in words. His descriptions are often as intriguing, as beautiful or as crazy as his photographs. SIZE 280 x 240mm HARD COVER, EXTENT 250 pgs. • ISBN 978-1-928209-63-8

Spirit of Africa, the call of the wild places.
Spirit of Africa, the call of the wild places.
Spirit of Africa transports you to some of the continent’s last remaining wild places. This selection of powerful landscape, wildlife and people images, underpinned by evocative, sometimes poignant, personal anecdotes and hard-hitting conservation stories, reflect Scott’s deep connection with nature. Spirit of Africa is a call to the modern world to recognise that the protection of African wilderness is now more important than ever – not only for the preservation of biodiverse landscapes and endangered species, but also to fortify the human spirit. • The most extensive collection of fine-art imagery from Africa’s national parks and wilderness in countries including South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe. • 150 spectacular, large-scale images, both colour and black and white, of landscapes, wildlife, ocean, rivers, skies and people. • Insightful and science-informed text that highlights many of the conservation challenges facing iconic species such as lions, elephants and pangolins. • Explores the essential personal connection that all humans around the world have with African wilderness. • Images of animals include the gorillas of Congo, the wildebeest migration in Serengeti and the flying lions of Busanga Plains in Zambia, but also less obvious – yet no less fascinating – subjects such as bees and geckos. The Lazy Makoti’s Guide To The Kitchen.
The Lazy Makoti’s Guide To The Kitchen.
Mastering the kitchen can seem pretty intimidating, especially when confronted with Instagram and TV chefs who seem to do everything with ease while, at the same time, relating a cute anecdote on camera. I’ve found that what most people want is simply to learn to prepare delicious and visually appealing food – the kind that will gain likes on social media – which is what inspired this cookbook. This book was written and compiled with YOU in mind, and takes into consideration all the different occasions a South African kitchen might have to cater for. The recipes use simple ingredients that are probably already in your pantry or fridge, and if not, they’re readily available in all our favourite grocery stores.
